Ontario is Holding a Provincial Election. Here’s How You Can Help Us Investigate Extreme Candidates.
Help us make sure people in Ontario are informed about those who want the power to create and pass laws
Ontario is having a provincial election.
There are 124 seats at Queen’s Park with candidates with six or more parties running in each — that’s well over 700 individuals seeking public office.
Provincial legislators have the power to make important decisions about the health and welfare of people in Ontario — it is no exaggeration to say these decisions could have life and death consequences for Ontarians and their families.
During this provincial election, PressProgress is carefully scrutinizing people who are seeking public office. That’s more important now than ever, especially given how many candidates elected to Doug Ford’s government in 2018 ended up embracing anti-vaccine conspiracies and anti-lockdown extremism.
In fact, one of Doug Ford’s 2018 candidates is currently facing criminal charges in connection to their involvement in the convoy occupation of Ottawa.
We want your help in identifying candidates with extreme or conspiratorial views, particularly if you have any information that shows:
• Candidates associated with extreme or conspiratorial views about COVID-19, public health measures or vaccines;
• Candidates with controversial views on race, gender, sexual orientation, and other categories of identity protected by Canadian human rights legislation;
• Candidates affiliated with groups that promote hate or work to restrict the rights of Canadians based on an extreme ideology.
If you have sensitive information you’d like to share, you can also share tips safely and securely through our anonymous tips portal.
