Exclusive: Former BC Conservative Staffer Alleges Questionable Conduct, Racial Discrimination From Former Party Chief of Staff
Apollo Chung says he has filed a complaint with BC's Human Rights Tribunal.
The BC Conservative party has been embroiled in scandal and turmoil, with the departure of nine MLAs who claim their values diverge from new party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay.
Now, Findlay’s former Director of Operations and Stakeholder Relations Apollo Chung, who was recently fired, alleges he experienced racial discrimination from Findlay’s former chief of staff, Chris Delaney.
Delaney announced his resignation on Wednesday for separate reasons.
“With Chris’ departure as Chief of Staff, it is time to speak openly about my time working with him,” Apollo Chung said in a statement to PressProgress.
“During my short time as Director of Operations and Stakeholder Relations, I was repeatedly subjected to racial remarks and questionable conduct from Chris Delaney that I found demeaning, inappropriate and unacceptable. These were not isolated interactions. At the time, I let it go and stayed focused on the job. I have since filed a complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal regarding this conduct.”
On Tuesday, leaked audio showed Delaney speaking disparagingly about Indigenous people, referring to them as “Natives” and creating a narrative of “white men” teaching them conservation, among other things.

Delaney was also a part of a controversy last week when former BC Conservative MLA Ian Paton shared that Delaney asked him to step down from his seat so that Findlay could run, and that “he would be given a job as an adviser for two years with the same salary as an MLA.”
Paton recently shared that the RCMP has now asked to meet with him regarding these allegations, given that selling a political position is illegal.
In his statement, Delaney said “I did this because I wanted to remove any distraction from her campaign to win the by-election in Abbotsford-Mission.”
“I stand behind Kerry-Lynne 100%. She is going to win in Abbotsford-Mission and begin the process of taking back our province before it is too late.”
Chung was fired last month following leaked audio which included him speaking about “stealing” $500,000.
“I want half a million dollars.”
That’s allegedly @KerryLynneFindl‘s now terminated staffer Apollo Chung, on tape demanding a $500,000 payout and calling to “steal everything.”

“I don’t walk away from money. We have the leader in our hands. I’m not walking away. Minimum, I want half a million dollars,” Chung is heard saying in the recording.
“I can’t do it, I can’t do it now because of Chris, right? I can’t do it with Chris Delaney there, right? We need to basically force all of them to make a fundraiser for us. And so we can steal everything.”
A day after the audio was leaked, Findlay announced the termination of Chung, “effective immediately.”
The firing and the audio was presented without context, a move Chung said was deliberate due to the “difficult working relationship” with Findlay’s chief of staff Delaney.
In an interview with PressProgress, Chung elaborated that Delaney repeatedly called him a racialized slur, including during a specific incident in July of 2026, which is detailed in a newly filed BC Human Rights Tribunal complaint reviewed by PressProgress.
Chung added that in addition to repeatedly calling him a slur, Delaney also often made stereotypes about Asian people.
“There was significant friction between us from the beginning and in the period leading up to my departure,” Chung said. “It was widely known we did not like each other.”
Chung added that before his termination, “doctored recordings” of him began to appear on social media.”
“These recordings, claiming to be from me, were disturbing, selective edited voice clips. Neither the Chief of Staff or caucus conducted an investigation of the authenticity of these recordings. Their release, coupled with the timing of my departure and no explanation or correction from Chris Delaney as the Chief of Staff for my termination, created a public narrative about why I was fired.”
Chung, who has previously worked for both the NDP and the Alberta Republican Party, said that he has been “a target” for people in the Conservative party.
Findlay and the BC Conservatives did not respond to a request for comment from PressProgress.
“I do a lot of contract work. I’m not a gun for hire per se, I do believe in certain things, like I’m not going to go off and work for the alt right or or anything like that. I do believe in certain things, and if I do believe in it, I will help them, or if they’re friends of mine, I will. I’m more than happy to help people,” Chung said.
He said he joined the Conservatives because he no longer aligned with the NDP’s values.
When asked about his ties to the Alberta Republican Party, Chung said that he was upset with Carney winning the federal election and had claimed recently moved to Alberta, and began speaking with people involved in the province’s separatist movement.
“I felt that they were really treated unfairly, right? Because I started talking to a lot of them, and it’s more or less they asked me, do I know how to organize? Do I know how to do this? And I said, yeah, that’s not too difficult to do, to build up a party and everything, and I just did it more or less because I just know how to do it,” Chung said.
“I just want to support people who are basically trying to get their voice out. They felt alienated. Basically, people should have their voice, instead of having this built-in anger.”
Chung said that normally a caucus is supposed to be a “well-oiled machine,” and to issue a statement correcting incorrect public narratives, particularly about the departure of a staff member.
“If the chief of staff knows that you’re doing a firing, then you can’t say ‘no comment’ and then lead people to believe whatever narrative and watch the wildfire happen,” Chung said.
“You’re destroying not only people’s lives and my reputation but at the same time, you’re causing panic and distress to members.”
Chung says that in part of the audio recordings, he was speaking about fundraising because he claims Findlay’s team was far behind the efforts of their opponent Caroline Elliot. Elliot was also running for leader of the BC Conservatives.
“When you do fundraising and you talk with fundraisers and stuff like that, you kind of exaggerate. When we were competing against Elliot she was raising about $2.2 million from her campaign,” Chung said.
“That’s what we established, and we needed money. We needed money badly. It was just like, we needed half a million. We have conversations about fundraising all the time, and it’s not unusual to talk about. It’s really, really hard to make money, and I have no access to that money.”
Chung said he decided to release his statement because the attention on him following the release of the “doctored audio” has been “deeply distressing.”
“For now, I believe it’s important that my experience is on the record. Meanwhile, I wish the Conservative Party of BC all the best, and hope that the current change of staff gives it the opportunity it needs to succeed,” Chung said.
Delaney did not respond to multiple requests for comment from PressProgress.
Editor’s Note: PressProgress was unable to independently verify the claim Chung made that he lived in Alberta prior to publication.
